And then there were 12 (see below)….
A week ago today I asked you to case your vote for the tune of the week. And vote you did (go here to see the original 40).
I must say, it’s been fun and fascinating so far. Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. We’re all different.
Some tunes have risen to the top, for sure. However, every tune has received votes. Though we all possess the same auditory decoding apparatus, our range of individual experiences colors our perception, and it’s unlikely that any two people experience the same tune in exactly the same way.
2. Classic tunes are universal.
As I said, some tunes of clearly risen to the top. Not surprisingly, several of those are some of the most classic tunes around. They’ve obviously become classics for very good reason. Whereas some tunes seem to speak to us as individuals, others seem to tap into something that’s more ancient and universal, and speak to all of us.
3. People like the gourd.
So do I.
Expect to continue to see it as part of the tune of the week series.
Next Friday, it’ll be time to crown a winner. So peruse through the top 12 tunes below and select your favorites among them by clicking on the “thumbs up” icon that appears on the screen when you hover over after pressing play. If you’ve voted for one of them already, than your vote is already part of the overall tally (but feel free to add others). Also, if you’re unable to see the thumbs up icon, you can email me your favorites (just reply to the tune of the week email).
So without further ado, I present the final 12:
