There’s nothing more fun than learning a great new tune on the banjo. And, for me, nothing more motivating that finding a great new tune to learn.
Always having great tunes to learn that are both inspiring and tailored to your current skill level is the single best way to ensure you keep growing and moving forward on the Timeline of Mastery.
Which is why I created the Clawhammer Top 10, and why I’m showing you these video demonstrations.
Beyond providing an audiovisual example of how these tunes should look and sound, I want to hopefully highlight the fact that you don’t have to get too fancy to make great music, as demonstrated by the Level 2 versions of these tunes.
Take a great tune, play it cleanly and with good timing, and you’ll end up with great results.
And what better tune to demonstrate that with than the clawhammer player’s anthem: Soldier’s Joy.
You’ll note here that the Level 2 demonstration videos, which are all part of the Breakthrough Banjo course (along with hundreds more like them inside the Clawhammer Tune and Song Library), are all shot as close ups, to give you a better view of the left and right hands.
