BREAKTHROUGH BANJO Course Excerpt: Tunes and Tunings

(This video lesson is an excerpt from the Breakthrough Banjo course. Click here to learn more about it.)

Getting into Alternate Tunings

As you may well know, alternate tunings are a rich part of banjo tradition.

And for good reason.

Alternate tunings can really make certain tunes shine, and they can make them easier to play.

But I get asked all the time about how to get in and out of those tunings. Do you tune all the strings directly? Or do you need a capo? What about the 5th string?

In these videos, I cover the various ways I get in and out of my set of favorite alternate tunings.
