Banjo Lessons for the Adult Beginner
Teaching old dogs new tricks since 2014
The Brainjo Method is the first neuroscience-based system of banjo instruction that’s created specifically for the adult beginner.
Being able to play music is not about talent. It’s not about aptitude.
Being able to play music is not about the brain you have, but the brain you build.
And yet, most people who try to learn a musical instrument struggle.
Why?
It’s not because they don’t have what it takes, but because of how it has been traditionally learned and taught.
The Brainjo Method is musical instruction re-built from the ground up in order to provide a path to success for everyone, regardless of age or prior musical experience.
Neuroscience research over the past several decades has clearly shown that the brain retains its ability to learn new, complex skills throughout our lifespan.
And the Brainjo Method is a step-by-step process that uses the science of how the brain learns to help you build your banjo playing brain, at any age.
Developed by Dr. Josh Turknett, a neurologist and musician with special expertise in the science of learning and neuroplasticity, The Brainjo Method has been used to teach tens of thousands of people from around the world how to play music – most of whom had no prior musical experience.
Josh Turknett, MD is a neurologist, author, musician, founder of Brainjo and creator of the Brainjo Method of musical instruction.
He has written multiple books, including the bestselling “The Laws of Brainjo: The Art & Science of Molding A Musical Mind,” which reviews the science behind the Brainjo Method of instruction.
He plays multiple instruments including banjo, fiddle, guitar, and piano, has been a banjo and stringband contest winner, and has appeared on the cover of the Banjo Newsletter.
Together with Justin Manglitz, he forms half of the band The Georgia Jays.
